We Stand In Solidarity
My English Teachers is an American company that was created with the hopes of spreading knowledge of the English language to those who will use it to transform their lives through access to quality English education. The global nature of our teacher and learner communities is an immense source of strength and pride. The recent executive order on immigration to the United States is more than just a headline for us, it hits close to home on a personal level. The whole backbone of our entire company is aiding those who seek to immigrate to foreign countries, study, work, or travel abroad in developing language skills that will make that transition easier. ALL of our students are either immigrants or looking to immigrate and they are the heart and soul of the My English Teachers community. Our work is focused only on improving the lives of our students and having so many of them question whether or not their goals will now be achievable is heartbreaking.
We know many of our students and potential students have been affected by the immigration executive orders and are unclear and anxious about what this means for them and their families. If you are one of those individuals, please know we are in solidarity with you and are monitoring the situation very closely to gain as much clarity as we can so we can support you.
Our promise to you
Beyond just those we know who are affected, this order is also upsetting to us as a matter of social justice. My English Teachers believes we have an obligation to protect the vulnerable and respect the human dignity of all…ESPECIALLY those fleeing war-torn nations. We stand with all who seek to escape violence and oppression, both at home and abroad. Our hope is that the confusion around this executive order is clarified as soon as possible and that the ban on refugees is lifted immediately.
We will do all we can to support our students and teachers from all over the world and work tirelessly to provide access to English education to everyone, regardless of nation of origin.
